Carrick Dry Riesling
Arthur's Vineyard, Bannockburn, Central Otago
We make a total of four different Rieslings at Carrick. We find that it is an incredibly versatile grape variety that excels at different levels of sweetness and is particularly interesting when left on its skins for several months.. Riesling does particularly well in Central Otago and the dry version we make at Carrick is perhaps the most transparent of the site on which we grow this grape. It is also the most refreshing and food friendly.
A palate cleansing wine that screams out for oysters or diamond clams.

Carrick Bannockburn Riesling
Bannockburn
We make a total of four different Rieslings at Carrick. The Bannockburn Riesling is our most “classic” in style, sitting somewhere in the middle of Josephine’s pristine fruit aromatics and lush mouthfeel, and the Dry’s lean acidity. Our Riesling parcel is planted entirely on its own roots and benefits from this direct connection with the earth. Each vine is carefully tended by hand during the season, then hand-picked to drop any fruit that is not up to par. Once at the winery the fruit is whole-bunch pressed to retain the clarity of fruit aromas. Made entirely in tank, using wild yeast, the ferment is halted when the right balance of sugar to acid is found.
Medium-dry riesling with lime, apricot, white flowers and subtle mandarin flavours. A hint of sweetness is nicely balanced by fruity acidity to give an appealing tension. Very approachable but no rush. 30 JUN 2020 Drink - 2020–2027

Carrick Josephine Riesling
Bannockburn
The Josephine Riesling had its origins in our private (pirate) bottlings of 2004 and 2005 where we found that an early bottling of Riesling with higher residual sugar was both balanced and delicious. It's now very much part of our established range.
